I know I'll have 0 time to post over the next six weeks, but I'm going to try to anyway. ClarionUCSD starts on Sunday, and I want to document the experience, since by all accounts it will be life-changing. I want to sop up every last squidge of learning, and with my memory-full-of-holes, that means writing down everything (at least everything I'm permitted to share).

I'll crosspost to here, too, but my more recent blatherings are at http://girlwonders.wordpress.com/ --I haven't maintained my LJ in ages. I mostly use it for lurking.

Clarion ahoy!

Thanks to blackletter's shoutout, I have oodles of useful feedback on my grief request below. So I thought it might be a good moment to explain why I need rules.Collapse )

I'm trying to think up rules for grieving. There are all sorts of artificial time constraints, systems of understanding the process, things one is supposed to DO...it's very open-ended. I rarely try to use the hive-mind, and my readership on LJ is small, but I'm curious, o brilliant friends--if you had to give advice to someone who's grief-struck, what would you say? Are there rules?

I am thinking about purchasing a set of Softer World prints to frame in an interesting way. One of the ones I want is not available, though.

I like the text on: 46, 62, 68, 77, 223 (unavailable).

But I need to make a longer favorites list and see how the art goes together.

Lookie, an awesome way to procrastinate the alien editing I need to finish before Friday.

Agent blog guest post that is mostly old hat, if nicely condensed. But the ellipses avoidance in dialogue rule is one I hadn't heard before. I like it. Parens and ellipses are to be avoided anyway, and em-dashes used sparingly.
